How to boil corn on the cob
While this is a very simple task , a lot of people still ask how to boil corn on the cob. Fortunately this is very simple and quick to do , and results in a very tasty treat!. First things first , fill a pot large enough to hold the corn on the cob (or cobs , depending how many you are boiling) , then start bringing it to the boil. If the cobs are still in their 'skin' you will need to shuck it. Simply start peeling the skin off , and blast it under the cold tap to help remove any stubborn silks.
If you've bought the corn on the cob pre-shucked from the supermarket , then obviously you can ignore the last step. Once the pot of water is boiling , throw in your corn on the cob and cover the pot with a lid. Corn does not need much cooking to be edible , so the duration you leave it to boil for really depends on how you like it. For a really crisp , crunchy corn you only need 1-3 minutes. For a slightly crunchy corn on the cob leave it in for about 5 - 7 minutes , and if you like it really soft , like me , then leave it in for a good 10 minutes.
Once cooked , use a pair of tongs to remove the corn because they can be very hot after boiling! be carefull. Corn on the cob can go with many things , but if you want to keep it simple just dress it with some salt , pepper and butter. The easiest way to do this is to rub a knob of butter all over the cob , then add the salt and pepper. Yummy!.... so yummy infact while i'm telling you how to boil corn on the cob , i have one boiling as we speak.
